Google, Uber, Lyft be part of automakers in self-driving automobile lobby

Google, Uber and Lyft have joined forces with automakers Volvo and Ford, developing a coalition to influence lawmakers, regulators and the community, Automotive News documented on Tuesday.


The new lobby, dubbed The Self-Driving Coalition for Safer Streets, will be led by David Strickland, extensive-time protection watchdog who was formerly the head of the U.S. National Highway Traffic Protection Administration (NHTSA).


Strickland, who is currently a Spouse in the regulatory group at D.C.-centered law business Venable LLP, was not quickly readily available for comment.
